Easter Message from Baghdad

Easter message from Rev Faez Jirjees

of St George's Church in Baghdad

Iraq 1
I greet you on the occasion of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. He gave us new life by His resurrection. The thorn of death has been broken under the feet of Christ. Hallelujah!

I would like to thank those who continue to help our Christian people in Iraq. When we were displaced and persecuted we would not have risen again without your prayers and financial assistance. Your aid was not limited to us, but included all the people of Iraq. This reminds me of the most beautiful verse in the Bible: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. Love your neighbour as yourself".
With your help, St George's Church in Baghdad continues its important work. We provide spiritual assistance, healthcare and education regardless of ethnicity or religion.
This work led the new Prime Minister of Iraq, Dr. Adil Abdul-Mahdi, to visit us to see what we are doing. He was dazzled that there is something like this in Iraq. He said he was proud of what we have achieved.

Beloved people of the UK I do not want to hide from you some of the problems facing my country. There is a lot of cultural and social ignorance in my country which has led to disintegration, sectarian conflict and wars. Because of this, I continue to work for reconciliation and co-existence, starting from the verse: "Love each other as I have loved you". After ISIS, this is particularly important. Therefore we need your blessed support to work together with us.
May the blessing of God be with you this Easter.
