Baptists Together in Reading

Pentecost Sunday Invitation

Sunday 9th June: Come and join us!

On behalf of ‘Baptists Together in Reading’ I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you and your church to join us on Sunday 9th June 2019. This Pentecost our Baptist family in Reading are gathering together for an amazing day of worship and hearing from God.

Who are Baptists Together in Reading?

We created the name to describe you. And me. And us. Baptists. People who express our Christian faith under the broad umbrella of the Baptist family. If you count us up that’s 11 churches or over 1000 people.

Will you be joining us?

Sunday 9th June is one of our responses to a message Lynn Green gave to our Reading Baptist family in January 2018. In her prophetic message Lynn believed that God was calling our churches to respond to God and to ‘rise up’. As a Baptist family we have a history of working together in mission and service. It’s a biblical mandate and a historic calling that we’d like to see renewed as God guides us and empowers us with His Holy Spirit.

On Sunday 9th June we’re encouraging your congregation to gather with our Baptist family at the Hexagon. There will be a full programme throughout the day with Lynn Green bringing our keynote messages. We will have activities for our creche and children. During the day we’ll worship, listen, pray, meet new friends and be challenged about our role in God’s mission.

How can you get involved?

There will be lots of opportunities to help serve on the day. The first priority is to make sure everyone in your church knows that they are invited. We’re encouraging churches to close their usual services or Sunday gatherings. The Hexagon is in central Reading with parking and public transport making it easily accessible. The day will finish in the early evening.

Why?

We’re coming together as part on an ongoing response to God, that we pray will lead to new Baptist congregations being pioneered throughout Reading. Too many people who we live beside and work with, do not yet know Jesus. It’s time for our churches to ‘rise up’ and meet this challenge. As part of the day we’ll be sharing about new developments and how we see us working together as Baptists for the glory of God in Reading.

Here is a video that Yinka Oyekan & I have prepared for you to share with your church family and congregation.
