Start with a Heart
AUSTEN HOUSE - Start with a Heart
Message from Joe Peacock
As some of you may know I have been going into Austen House Care Home for the past year and doing an intergenerational toddler group. Obviously, that has not been able to happen in recent months although we’ve been sending pictures, cards and doing a weekly intergenerational lockdown challenge. We’ve tried to keep relationships going as much as we can through this difficult time.
Recently, Churches Together in Wokingham was approached by Wokingham Council to see if there was any way local churches could support local Care and Nursing Homes in these difficult times. As a result, myself and Rev Libby Newman from St Nics church are now working together as Link people for Austen House Care Home. Watch this space in coming weeks/months of practical and prayerful ways LEBC can get involved.
However, the first thing we’d like to do is let the staff and residents of Austen House know that we are thinking of them and praying for them and so we’d like to start with a heart …
Can you make, draw, paint, knit, or even build a heart that I can take into Austen House. You can either send me a photo of it, drop it at my house on your daily exercise, post it to me or I can come and collect it. I have a no contact system with Austen House of dropping things off in a way that ensures no germs are being spread. You can be as creative as you want to be. My hope is that we’ll get enough that every resident and every staff member will be given a heart as a reminder that they have not been forgotten and that we are praying for them.
